Incorporated in 1926 and designed by City planner John Nolen and developer Dr. Fred Albee, the City of Venice is now nearly18 square miles and home to more than 29,800 full-time residents and an additional 10,000 seasonal residents. The City’s legislative body consists of seven elected Council Members, of which the Mayor is one member. There are over 400 City employees among 18 departments and divisions, including police, fire, emergency medical personnel, and municipal airport staff.
